Crowns
A crown is a tooth-like covering placed over a carefully prepared tooth. They are used to strengthen teeth that have become weakened from large fillings, fractures or excessive wear. They can also be used to change the shape, colour or position of a tooth. They are made of gold alloy and porcelain, which are very strong and extend the life of the tooth for many years.
Crowns usually take two appointments to make. The first involves preparing the tooth to make room to fit the crown, an impression taken and a temporary crown created. The second visit two weeks later involves removing the temporary and cementing the permanent crown in place.
